Split an image in three steps

01

Upload Image

Drag and drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP image into the workspace, or click to choose one from your device.

02

Pick Rows & Columns

Tap a preset like the 3×3 Instagram grid, or type custom row and column counts. The blue grid preview updates instantly over your photo.

03

Split & Download

Click "Split into tiles", inspect every numbered tile preview, then download tiles individually or grab them all as a single ZIP file.

The 3×3 Instagram Grid Workflow

The 3×3 preset slices your photo into nine equal square-friendly tiles, numbered row by row from top-left to bottom-right. Upload the nine files to Instagram as a carousel or sequential posts to reconstruct the full picture across your profile grid. Files are named image-row-1-column-1.jpg and so on, so the intended order is always obvious.

  • Produces exactly 9 tiles in left-to-right, top-to-bottom reading order.
  • Square source photos divide most evenly; any size works without gaps.
  • Filenames carry row and column numbers, so posting order stays clear.
  • Posting to Instagram itself is manual — this tool prepares the tiles only.

Pixel-Exact Tiling Without Gaps or Overlaps

Each tile is cut at integer pixel boundaries computed from the full natural resolution of your source file, so the complete image is covered exactly once. When a side does not divide evenly — for example 1001 px across 3 columns — the leading tiles absorb one extra pixel each (334, 334, 333) instead of dropping edge pixels or stretching the last column. PNG and WebP tiles keep their alpha channel intact, while JPEG tiles are composited over your chosen background color so transparency never turns black.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which image formats can I split?

You can upload JPEG/JPG, PNG, and WebP images up to 50 MB. Tiles can be exported as PNG, JPEG, or WebP regardless of the input format.

What is the largest grid I can make?

Rows and columns each go from 1 to 6, for a maximum of 36 tiles. This cap keeps tile rendering fast and avoids excessive memory use on phones.

How do I download all tiles at once?

After splitting, click "Download All as ZIP" to get every tile in one archive with numbered filenames like image-row-1-column-1.png. You can also download any single tile with its own Download button.

Will my tiles keep transparent backgrounds?

Yes, when you export as PNG or WebP. If you export as JPEG, transparency is not supported, so you pick a background fill color (white by default) instead of getting accidental black pixels.

Does the splitter upload my photos anywhere?

No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser using local canvas rendering — including the ZIP download. Your images never leave your device.

How do I post the 3×3 tiles to Instagram?

Download the nine tiles (the ZIP keeps them in order) and upload them to Instagram yourself as a carousel post or a sequence of posts. The tool prepares correctly ordered tiles; posting is always manual.
